THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT COVID-19 – LAUGHTER

Want to prevent contracting Covid-19 then find things to laugh about—and what better way to laugh than through a funny, new book titled Costco As You Like It – A Well-Played Romantic Comedy by first-time author Casey Giffen.
This romantic comedy set shares the story of two lonely hearts, a librarian named Paul and a teacher and counselor named Maddie, discovering each other over their mutual love of books in the Costco aisle. As is the case in life, the road to love is not always paved with hearts and flowers. Both fearful to give away their hearts to each other, they instead focus on other “things” (a proposed arts center) and other people’s love lives. 
While Paul shyly tries to meet and date Maddie, it doesn’t go quite as planned. On the other hand, Maddie concocts other more creative plans to execute her unintended mayhem—of course, all with the best of intentions. She exerts all her thespian prowess to convince residents that a civic arts center is practical and prudent. Incognito, she plays the part of Gaylord (aka Ganymede from Shakespeare’s As You Like It) to succeed. By performing a play to raise money and awareness for community folks, Gaylord (aka Maddie) becomes a hidden gift for Paul. However, as is the case with most things in life (and even fairy tales) nothing works out quite as planned. 
Written by  teacher Casey Giffen, he used his own experiences to create this realistic, yet magical story. “Right now, people are still opting to stay home, and they have more time than ever to read,” said Giffen. “It’s perfect timing for something light and frothy to escape from the reality of the new normal. Can I Pick Your Brain?

I am blogging about this in response to another blog I saw on the subject. I didn't completely read that author's total opinion, but I read enough to post a big, "You tell 'em sister!" In my line of work as a publisher and marketing specialist, I run into prospective clients who basically through the excuse of preliminary research, put my staff to work to put together proposals, get print quotes, ask endless advice, ask for multiple meetings, etc. -- all under the guise of "picking our brains" and potential business. While we've gotten better about discerning the difference between real business opportunities and those who make endless requests only to spend time drinking coffee with us and going nowhere fast ... except off to either another publisher with our materials (usually one that in their minds is less expensive) or to try and self-publish (again, using our materials). Whether people set out to deliberately use and run, isn't the point.

I rarely discuss my private life on my blog, but I wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to my brother who passed unexpectedly sometime in July in Wasilla, Alaska . John was a true mountain man. He wasn't the least bit materialistic and never cared about worldly possessions. In the last 20 years after he moved to Alaska, I saw him three times, so we were not close; but I admire that he decided to live life his way up in the wilderness fishing for endless numbers of day.
