What Eyebrows, Skarsbrows, Eric and Sookie Lovers and Ship Eric and Sookie have in Common?

Image
You have to love Cheryl Mullick and Tre Bella Spa! Check them brows! If I had a picture of the original state of the brows, you would really catch my thrill over what she does with "the frame to your face." It's Friday! And like Sunday, I don't feel like posting a serious blog. Besides, have you ever gotten so behind on your projects that you just have to shrug? What are you going to do? There are only so many hours in day, right? So today rather than rant and rave and go off on some tangent, I thought I would focus on nothing important at all. Like I said, it's Friday. Soon, I will also galavant off to Tre Bella Spa owned and operated by my dear friend Cheryl Mullick, who gave me the infamous "dirty girl" quote on the cover of California Girl Chronicles , enjoy Rain Drop therapy and get some eyebrow landscaping done. And you know what else, just because I love Cheryl's ability to take what originally looks like a caterpillar and turn it into a...

When Insomnia Strikes ...

I have had insomnia off and on for about five years now. I am fortunate in that when I find myself wide awake at 1:00 a.m. at least I can take solace in the fact I can sleep in and catch up. Of course, this becomes a vicious cycle, and I should probably get back on track and NOT sleep in. For all you insomniacs you know all of the distractions, right? Let's just make fun of them shall we. First, don't get sucked into your Apple TV where you can use You Tube to watch all sorts of inane and inconsequential mind candy. Yes, my brain gets to lick a lollypop as I watch endless interviews with actors and actresses I admire. Does any of that matter? Nope, and this is how I discovered that You Tube is knee-deep in the meaningless mind litter of America. It has also taken celebrity worship to all new pinnacles of mindlessness. I guess "fans" now produce loads of mind-numbing videos and photo montages of their favorite celebrity-fetish. I say "fetish" because it...

Completely Idle thoughts on True Blood, Alexander Skarsgård, Paparazzi, and Black Friday

I now have Apple TV. Yesterday left completely bored by nothing on TV and lethargy (I didn't want to go to the video store), I decided to watch You Tube. Here is what I love about You Tube, you can watch all of the interviews you missed or downloads from festivals and conferences. My favorite show du jour is True Blood so I decided to watch the cast interviews from HBO and Paleyfest from last summer. Caught some great behind-the-scenes comments about Season 4 (sort of my favorite season, but it really waned in writing quality toward the last three shows ... which is why I favor Season 3 for overall consistency). I started laughing when the cast cited some of their favorite lines, which included "Ring, ring hooker" (turns out that one was an ad-lib) and Kristin Bauer van Straten, whose quip, "Pretty much anything Pam says," made me smile and nod. Pam had the great line of the season, "Sookie and her precious fairy vagina." I completely loved that line ...

My Super Secret Work Behavior

Remember that episode of Sex in the City where the girls admitted to their super secret single behavior ? Charlotte studied her skin up close; Miranda let her hands marinate in Vaseline-glazed gloves; and I can't recall what Carrie and Samantha did, but I am sure it was funny. So, as a work-at-home CEO who will never glide into another office building unless it's for a meeting, here are my super secret work behaviors. You telecommuters may appreciate so of them as true for you. You office workers may groan and spit envious words of "just shut it already." Uniform choices of the day -- my favorite blue bathrobe . Yes, my uniform is a blue bathrobe combined with last night's pajamas. I don't shower or dress until noon. Tis true. What's the point in wasting valuable time getting dressed when I'm not going anywhere? I've heard other telecommuters confess that they don't even shower. I draw the line there. Must feel clean at some point during the...

Why the Internet is Like Nuclear Waste

When I speak in public, I always caution people about what they post on You Tube, Facebook or Twitter and other social media. I remind my audience that the Internet is like nuclear waste; it never goes away . So last night I went out with my dear friend Cheryl Mullick, owner of Exquisite Esthetics by Cheryl, for some girl chat and drinks. We were talking about just frothy fun and my upcoming book California Girl Chronicles and just giggling about the book's sexy fun. Well, I mentioned that I have a particular actor in mind for one of the male leads when I develop the TV series, and then I mentioned how I had stumbled on this super weird video of my favorite actor on You Tube doing some strange stuff -- one was this bizarre shower scene where my favorite actor did nothing but suds up for the camera with two guys? I think it was supposed to be sexy, and he did it early in his career, but what an odd thing to post. While Cheryl and I were cracking up about the strange video, I went t...
