Word Crimes

This video is perfect from "Weird Al" Yankovic! Reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons where I learned things like "conjunction, conjunction what's your function ..." Yes, I just gave away my age, again! Enjoy the video and maybe learn something new like what is the Oxford comma. We don't like the Oxford comma around here, but other strict grammarian have a love affair with it.

Community Food Distribution Centers (CFDCs): A Practical Solution to EBT Fraud and Food Insecurity Author: Michelle Gamble, (c)2025 Purpose: This brief proposes a new model for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/EBT) to reduce fraud, improve nutrition, and strengthen community engagement through Community Food Distribution Centers (CFDCs). EBT/SNAP fraud and poor nutritional outcomes are ongoing challenges in public assistance programs. This concept replaces or supplements traditional EBT cards with direct weekly food boxes, distributed through CFDCs that partner with local farms and food banks. Each participant receives healthy, prepackaged foods based on weekly menus designed by nutritionists. Recipients fulfill their work-hour requirements by helping at these centers—packing boxes, managing logistics, or teaching nutrition classes. The model restores integrity, promotes wellness, and rebuilds community trust. Core Goals: 1 Eliminate SNAP/EBT trafficking and resale b...

I rarely discuss my private life on my blog, but I wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to my brother who passed unexpectedly sometime in July in Wasilla, Alaska . John was a true mountain man. He wasn't the least bit materialistic and never cared about worldly possessions. In the last 20 years after he moved to Alaska, I saw him three times, so we were not close; but I admire that he decided to live life his way up in the wilderness fishing for endless numbers of day. I always wondered how he seemed to never bore of it. He would catch so many salmon, he would live off fresh fish year round. He loved to cook, and I honestly have no idea why he got a degree in marketing from Sacramento State. Looking back on it, I think he would have made a terrific ranger. From an early age, he loved nature. He used to catch trout with his hands up at our family cabin. We would wander the forest together. When we were little, we spent sometimes two to three weeks up there, hiking around the w...

All right since you all voted with your page views about the blue sweater picture, which was just a picture I posted to make a point, I am going to vote on one of my favorite pictures. I love this one. It's very dark and sinister, and it reminds me of True Blood . I don't think it really even looks like him in his "unvarnished" state, but it's my favorite shot regardless. I love the blue tint to it among many other things. So, there you go -- my personal favorite. P.S. I know many of you are going to throw tomatoes and other assorted vegetables at me for saying this: but I noticed on Tumblr, fans are clamoring for more current shots of Skarsgard out in public. Again, I can already feel the tomatoes pelting my head, but I am not encouraging more of his private moment shots be taken. The paparazzi are awful! Have you seen them dog celebrities? I personally think it's fantastic when a celebrity consciously sits down for a photo session to get new pictures taken...
